Members and visitors in the Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy server are expected to:

1. Refrain from laming in the primary dimension. Laming is the attacking of someone who has his saber down and/or his chatbubble up. Someone who has Melee (fists) up, may be killed freely.**

*Most games we play are, at the lowest, 12+. So, please, rule of the thumb, do not post or discuss any material not suited for 12 years olds.
**It should be noted, that visitors are only expected to not lame on the JKA server’s primary dimension. Members and applicants, however, are expected to follow the rules of other servers as well, where possible.
*** Encase you were wondering, “to refrain from” means “not to do” or “to resist the urge to”.

• Normally, a server has a “games.log” file logging everything that is said (including PMs) and all IPs that connect to the server. This file is disabled on the Cosmos server: nothing that is said, and no IPs, are logged.  Though your IP is visible to the council if they want to see it when you are on the server, it is not logged anywhere.
• No IPs of players on the server will be shared with anyone, anywhere, any time.
• Score and time online (based on your name) are logged by the server tracker. See this list for more info.
• Anything you say on the server may be freely shared by all those receiving the message (to rectify a common misunderstanding, admins can not see your PMs). Think funny quotes, but anywhere else too. Exceptions may be made for sensitive or too private information however (deletion of post, etc).

We do, however, have council members. The difference between council members and “normal” members is the fact that council members are effectively a decision-making organ, deciding over day-to-day things such as applications, as well as any ideas or issues that might arise. Because of this, they inevitably have some authority over other members of the community, but they do not usually make decisions without votes amongst the rest of the council (except in cases where immediate action is necessary).
For many things, council members may consult other members of the clan through polls, etc.
Due to the way the council makes decisions (the majority of votes), the council always has an uneven number of members.

That aside, we do not have any ranks.

Q: What’s with the whole “Community” thing? Aren’t you just a clan/guild?
A: Yup, so we are. Community has a better ring to it, though. Still, it boils down to the same.

Q: Are there any age requirements to join?
A: No. We do, however, value maturity.

Q: Any other requirements, then?
A: You are expected to display a reasonable level of activity both ingame and on the forums. You are also expected to be mature, and not cause (too much) unnecessary drama.

Q: How do I join?
A: You can apply at our forums, using our application form. After that, our Officers (leadership) will tell you what to do next. After this, you may or may not be accepted, based on your attitude only.

Q: Do you care if I’m a horrible newbie who just started playing the game?
A: Nope. Skill and knowledge can be taught.

Q: I left my previous clan/guild/community on extremely bad terms. Will this affect my time here?
A: No, it will not.

Q: Can I be in any other guild or clan whilst in Cosmos?
A: No, you can not.  In Jedi Academy, you are not allowed to be in other communities, clans, teams, and so forth, but some exceptions might be made for informal base teams, RP communities and the likes. Please contact a council member if you are unsure what the policy for your team/clan is.

Q: Do you currently ally with other guilds, clans or communities?
A: No. We currently do not ally with anyone.

Q: What sort of game types do you play?
We mostly play FFA, though we may on occasion switch gametypes too.

Q: Do you Roleplay?
A: When we feel like it.

Q: Are members expected to wear their tags at all times?
A: No. So long as you do not abuse it (eg normally do have your tag on, at the very least on our server), there are no rules about when to wear your tag.

We are a community of gamers, founded on the 28th of January 2010, currently playing  Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
We’re a casual, laid-back community, with mature members and a very loose structure of ranks. As opposed to focusing on rules or winning, we’re all about simply enjoying the games we play. As such, we regularly host and participate in events, including matches and lightsaber-soccer.
